At Strength Block, we're different. The owners, Sophie and Damien Rabaud, are coaches first, and gym owners second. We want to arm you with all the tools necessary to succeed not only during your time at Strength Block but for all your future fitness endeavours.
We do this by building a community of people who are working together to reach their goals. Where everyone knows your name, and where you can ask for help without feeling embarrassed or out of place. Where we all celebrate our wins together

Limited memberships - we have a limited membership intake so the gym is never too busy, and we can maintain good vibes at all time.

We set out to build the best strength training and workout app in NZ, an app that takes our distinct approach to fitness and allows you to try the Strength Block methods where ever you are in the world. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter programs, and have put hours into crafting high quality programs into our app, with functions such as calculating the weights you need to use, providing video explanations for everything, and more. It’s like a strength coach in your pocket!

Hi,
I'm Sophie, I once dabbled in weights without too much guidance and didn’t really know what I was doing until I met my now-husband and got swept up into the love of strength training.
I went from someone who was always wanting to stay in the smallest clothing size possible to having a focus on strength, performance based goals, growth, and confidence within myself and my capabilities.
This hobby turned into a career when covid gave me the time to study and I completed my certificate in personal training before then furthering this with a certificate in pregnancy and postpartum coaching.
I am now proud to say after training clients from our well set up garage for a few years we have moved our business into its own premises and Strength Block was born.
A place that encourages people to change their negative view of exercise to a place they love to come and feel supported by not just Damien and myself but around our other members.
I love empowering women to feel strong and show them the benefits that come from this physically and mentally.
Other than training people in person at Strength block I also offer online coaching so no matter where you are or what little equipment you have, you can have a plan going forwards under my guidance. For more information regarding this check out my personal page..

Damien has been working as a trainer in the fitness industry for over 10 years. He's a certified personal trainer and has spent the last decade honing his skills in strength training. With a particular love for the nuances of programming and progression models, Damien has worked with a wide range of clients - from people that have never touched a barbell to athletes who have competed in powerlifting at a national level.
